Why does the Manx cat have no tail?

by isleofman.com 11th June 2012

Children in Year 5 or 6 at school have the chance to tell us.

Competition ends 20 July.

The competition for children in years 5 and 6 at school to write astory about why the Manx cat has no tail is well under way. The winning entry will be included in Loaghtan Books’ forthcoming publication A Detailed Account of Manx Cats, while Lexicon Bookshop will also give the child who writes the best story ?50 in vouchers to spend in Lexicon. Their school will receive copies of Loaghtan Books’ publications.

George Hobbs, one of the partners in Loaghtan Books, says: ‘There are some wierd and wonderful ideas about the Manx cat and why it lacks a tail, and the animal is a wonderful and enduring symbol of the island. We’re really looking forward to reading the children’s stories of feline frolics.’

Stories should be sent to Loaghtan Books by email or terrestrial mail, and details are available at all primary schools. So, come on kids, get writing.

Sonnys ort!
