Isle of Man TT Stars Bring Motorcycle Live 2011 To A Close With A Bang

by isleofman.com 1st December 2011
Motorcycle Live 2011 ended on a high with ‘Mad Sunday’ – a full day dedicated to the Isle of Man TT Races fuelled by Monster Energy. Fans of the legendary road race arrived at The NEC in their droves, all hoping for the chance to see their heroes in the flesh, and they weren’t left disappointed. A whole host of TT stars turned out for the final day of the show, including 17-times TT winner John McGuinness, Michael Rutter, Michael Dunlop, Bruce Anstey, Ian Lougher, Conor Cummins, Ryan Farquhar, Jamie Hamilton, Jenny Tinmouth, Dave Molyneux and Patrick Farrance, John Holden and Andy Winkle and the Birchall brothers. The TT contingent took part in a TT themed Q&A session with James Whitham and the Fast Bikes Questions of Bikes quiz with Steve Parrish. The day ended with a mass-signing session from the Isle of Man TT stars that lasted well over an hour as fans queued to collect a final memento of what was a fantastic event. The Department of Economic Development organised the appearances as part of a promotional campaign that they were running at the nine day show. The newly launched grandstand seats were on sale as well as TT travel and accommodation packages and stand staff reported huge interest in people visiting the Isle of Man and queues around the stand to meet the TT stars. The Isle of Man TT Marshals Association also attended the show, encouraging new recruits to sign up for the IOMTTMA, while the Senior TT Trophy also made a rare excursion off Island and was on display on the Isle of Man stand. Fans were also able to get their hands on the latest TT merchandise and there was an opportunity to buy a pre-launch copy of the TT film TT3D: Closer to the Edge. “What a brilliant way to end the show”,says Finlay McAllan, Managing Director of Event organisers, MCI Exhibitions. “There has been a real buzz around the halls this year and judging by all the positive comments we’ve had from both exhibitors and visitors, everyone has thoroughly enjoyed it. I can certainly say that we have.” Paul Phillips, TT and Motorsport Manager, Department of Economic Development commented: “We have now become an integral part of the show and the growth and interest in the TT is phenomenal. It is a really positive indication for the future of the event and for visitor numbers for TT2012.” ENDS
