by isleofman.com 28th April 2011
The Pigeon Detectives completes the line-up of entertainment at the Villa Marina and Gaiety Theatre through TT fortnight, the Department of Community, Culture and Leisure announced today. The five piece indie rock band from Leeds will perform in the Villa's Royal Hall on Thursday 9 June 2011. Tickets priced ?29.50 are now on sale at the Welcome Centre in the Sea Terminal, Douglas, and at www.villagaiety.com. The Pigeon Detectives formed in 2004 and have played support to the Kaiser Chiefs and Dirty Pretty Things. They released their third album Up Guards And At 'Em! earlier this month. Their first album Wait For Me went straight to number three in the UK album chart in 2007 and achieved gold status soon after. Hon David Cretney MHK, Minister for Community, Culture and Leisure, said: 'The Pigeon Detectives will round off a varied programme being staged at the Villa Gaiety during the TT Festival. With other acts already announced including tribute rock group DC/AC on 28 May, blues fusion singer Imelda May on 7 June and Charley Boorman bringing his one man show to the Gaiety on the eve of the first race (3 June), we hope to have something to appeal to all tastes.' Live music will also be on offer every night of TT week with a variety of bands performing in the Promenade Suite Saturday June 4 to Friday June 10 including The Heights, Soul Suspects and Black Tooth. Tickets for all performances are now on sale at the Welcome Centre and at www.villagaiety.com. - Pre-TT entertainment includes Scottish indie band TRAVIS playing the Royal Hall on Wednesday 25 May. Tickets, priced ?35, are still available. Link http://www.thepigeondetectives.com ENDS
