The Isle of Man Family History Society was formed in January 1979 to encourage the study of genealogy and family history, particularly within the Isle of Man.
Being a member of the society benefits all those researching their families, whether they are Manx born or not. Members living abroad will find it rewarding to discover their Island heritage in this manner.
They hold monthly meetings and an exhibition and open days are usually held each year, where they display family trees of members, and copies of their publications.
They publish a quarterly journal "Fraueyn as Banglaneyn" (Manx Gaelic) "Roots and Branches" in February, May, August and November.
The society library holds the "International Genealogical Index" (IGI) on microfiche for all of the British Isles, and other places in the world. The library is located at Derby Lodge, Derby Road, Peel. Please contact a librarian for opening times on 01624 843105.
