Inflation rate remains unchanged

The Isle of Man's rate of inflation remained unchanged in March.As measured by the Consumer Prices Index it stood at 4.4 per cent.According to statistics released by the Manx Government the most significant contributor to the rate of inflation is transportation costs – they account for 1.6 percentage points of the overall rate.The cost of petrol and diesel fell slightly over the period.The cost of eating out continued to rise alongside the cost of rent and heating oil.

Chief Minister has privately funded CWG trip

The Isle of Man's Chief Minister has paid for himself to attend this year's Commonwealth Games. That's according to the government which says Howard Quayle is on a 'privately funded trip' to the Gold Coast. On Tuesday night he attended the launch of the 2018 Commonwealth Games Trade and Investment Programme. The forum style event provided an opportunity for government and industry leaders, throughout the Commonwealth, to strengthen relationships and discuss business opportunities.
