Cameron's Story

A few weeks ago we brought you Cameron's Story and it is with great sadness that we must update his story with sad news.

Sadly Cameron died on Friday 30th May 2014, 29 days after his Bone Marrow Transplant, aged just 3 years old.

Cameron's parents, Danielle and Paul would like to thank those who donated and helped raise awareness of the great work being done by donors, medical staff and the charities.

Cameron's Dad, Paul Smith, took part in the KPMG Promenade Relay earlier in June and was interviewed by Paul Moulton for MTTV.  I'm sure you'll agree Paul was very brave to do this so soon after loosing Cameron.

Paul and his colleagues who took part in the KPMG Promenade Relay.

Paul's target for the Relay was to raise £1,000 which was beat and the local company where he works, DLP Limited, raised an additional £500 so the total at this time stands at nearly £1,600.

Cameron's parents are still working with Cameron's Consultants at Great Ormond Street Hospital to set up a Charity specially for XiAP Research into Genetic Immune Disorders.

You can donate and read all about the brave battle Cameron fought on Paul's JustGiving page here.

This is Cameron's Story...

Paul's fiancee's gorgeous little boy, Cameron Clark is just three years old and he is suffering from a very rare illness which means his immune system doesn't work properly and he needs a Bone Marrow Transplant.

He was diagnosed last October with HLH Syndrome secondary to XiAP Deficiency (XLP2).  XLP2 is a relatively new illness, having only been discovered in 2006.

Cameron has already had 2 long stays in Great Ormond Street and will be there until he receives a Bone Marrow Transport in May.  After his transplant he will be restricted to his room for 8 weeks as his immune system will have to redevelop.  Without DeleteBloodCancer.org.uk Cameron would not of found his donor from Germany.

Cameron's Story

Cameron's dream is to be well and home with Danielle and Paul for Christmas.  If you wish to sponsor Paul go to www.justgiving.com/CameronsStory.

Another great way we can all help is to register to become a bone marrow donor, just like Cameron's donor did.  All you have to do is request a swab kit from www.deletebloodcancer.org.uk/.

*The KPMG Promenade Relay is along Douglas Prom and it is KPMG's charity event of the year. Take part in the event yourself by entering online at www.kpmg.co.im/promenaderelay. Together we might find a cure.
