Sporting achievements
2011 Island Games - Gold medals in 50m rifle prone, 50m rifle prone team (with Lara Ward), 100yds rifle prone, 100yds rifle prone team (with Lara Ward). Bronze medal in 10m air rifle team (with Lara Ward). Set Island Games records in 50m rifle prone (589 out of 600), and 50m rifle prone team (1164 out of 1200).
Achieved three Commonwealth Games qualifying standards in 2012 for 50m prone rifle (out of four matches shot):
• 588/600 at the English Championships (3rd place)
• 590/600 at the Cambridgeshire open [England selection match] (1st finish)
• 591/600 at the British Championships (1st place)
Competed at the Scottish Championships in 2012 and hit a score of 587/600 for a second place finish, but the qualifying standard is 588 so she only missed it by a point.
Rachel says: "Winning the British Championships for prone rifle was definitely the highlight of 2012 as the women in second and third places were both previous Commonwealth Games gold medallists. In my second discipline, three positions (3P) rifle, I managed 10th place in the British Championships with 557/600. That was only nine points short of the CG qualifying standard which is really encouraging as I only took up 3P two years ago and shooting standing up takes some getting used to!"

How does being on the Glasgow 2014 Support Programme help you?
"For me the best thing about the Support Programme is knowing that there are facilities and specialists there to help if I need it. Having that support is invaluable."
What do the Commonwealth Games mean to you?
"The Commonwealth Games means a lot as it's the highest level that I can shoot while representing the Isle of Man. I missed out on selection for Delhi in 2010 and so I put a four-year plan in place to make absolutely sure that I'd be good enough to get selected for Glasgow in 2014. My overall aim is to be the first female shooter to bring back a Commonwealth Games medal for the Island."
