The responsibility of providing water (along with power) falls to the Manx Utilities Authority, which was formed in April 2014.

The Manx Utilities Authority employs over 150 staff and has authority for providing water supplies to the Island's residents. They are also responsible for the provision of sewerage treatment, disposal and it's infrastructure.

Additionally they act as the Island's flood risk management authority and have produced a Flood Map showing areas on the Island that could be affected by flooding from rivers or the sea.

There are 10 reservoirs on the Island, the largest of which is Sulby Reservoir which was completed in 1982.  Two water treatment works are located in Sulby and Douglas.
