Hundreds of competitors will be taking part in the Tough Mann Adventure Challenge in association with Manx Telecom this Saturday (August 5th) at Ballamoar Farm, Ballaugh.
The 10km off-road race takes place over some of the most rugged terrain that the Isle of Man has to offer, with crawls, climbs and sandbag carries to name but a few of the challenges. Tough Mann began in 2013, and to celebrate its fifth anniversary this year there is also a 20km two-lap option which 19 challengers have signed up for. The race starts at 1pm with the 20km competitors setting off first, followed a few minutes later by the 10km competitors who start in waves to minimise congestion on each obstacle.
Organiser Kez Wardell commented: “Tough Mann is a real team effort, so I would like to thank everyone who supports the event, and especially the competitors who make it such a special sporting and community occasion.”
Here is some important information for competitors:
• All competitors need to sign on at Manx Telecom’s headquarters at Isle of Man Business Park, Cooil Road, Braddan – there are two signing on sessions on August 3rd and August 4th from 5pm to 8pm on both nights. For any competitors arriving on the Island after those dates, they will be able to sign on at the timing tent on the start/finish area at Ballamoar Farm on August 5th from 10am to 11.45am. ALL competitors MUST bring photo ID.
• On race day, the entrance to car parking for competitors is via Glen Road – spectator car parking will be signposted from the main rain road through Ballaugh.
• Please remember, do not bring pets to the event as the race takes place on a working farm.
Funds will be raised for Tabitha’s Trust (www.TabithasTrust.com) which is Tough Mann’s official charity partner this year. The Trust helps families affected by child bereavement. Competitors who want to support the charity can download sponsor forms from the Tough Mann website at www.toughmann.com which also has all of the latest event news and information.
