Air disaster commemorated

by Manx Radio

Air disaster commemorated The worst air disaster on Manx soil was commemorated at the weekend as members of the Manx Aviation Preservation Society marked the death of 31 airmen during World War Two.

Sunday was the 69th anniversary of a plane crash on North Barrule, and society members hoisted an American flag which will stay in place until Friday.

A memorial and flagpole were installed at the site of the incident by Maughold commissioners and the society in 1995.

Director of the Manx Aviation and Military Museum Ivor Ramsden says the crash remains the worst the Isle of Man has ever seen:Clip 1
